Would anyone recommend making my own steering wheel.

most break easily & the TSW wheels are expensive.

I want to be able to drive the car, not have
to be gingerly with it.  Don't get me wrong, I'm don't plan on beating the
hell out of it either.

any other info would be greatly appreciated.
