Gran Turismo -clutch

I read someone's wish list for GT2 (sorry I forget who) , they mentioned
that a
clutch would be useful. The problem being that when the car comes to a
standstill
it takes a long time to pick up speed again. I have just discovered that
Gran Turismo DOES have a clutch. It is operated by pressing the handbrake.
So if you do stop just press the handbrake/clutch and the accelerator until
the rev's
build up then release the handbrake/clutch . Works a treat!
Hope this helps Gran Turismo fans.
PS it also helps on the tighter turns (handbrake, keep on the power and it
just goes around. ( If you get it right that is ).

Agreed, the handbrake is very useful and under-rated. Also, some folks
are claiming that you have to use the manual transmission so that you
can select gearing in some corners, etc. You can force downshifting with
the auto transmission by blipping the (foot) brake.

Awesome game. And why is nobody posting about how perfectly balanced
the  93 Honda Civic 3-door Si is? Granted, it's not the fastest car, but
it is so _easy_ to drive well! Try it.

Also, for those who want to get the Arcade "drift"-style handling in the
simulation mode, try setting up your car with stiff springs, dampers and
heavy brakes in the rear.

You mean you've never used this technique before?  Yikes!  I could never
sit there waiting for the turbo lag to go by!

If you use the stock setup, square is foot brake and circle is hand brake.

No , but the wheels lock so you can't "ride" the clutch to stop wheelspin
when accelerating.

Yes, works in real cars as well ... :-)

If only they had that handling technology in the 80's. My first car
(Honda Civic 82 model) was quite scary to drive at 160 khm (doing the ton)
down the motorway. In some cases you couldn't fee the front wheel to steer...
