GT Legends - not working?

by pjgt.. » Mon, 14 Nov 2005 05:18:12

Hi Guys...

Just bought GTLegends today. I installed the sim ok, and ran the GTL
config ok.

I then ran the sim for the 1st time ok, set up a new player name, and
selected the controller etc, But...

When I try to go to the next screen (press the arrow icon at the bottom
right corner of the screen) my pc just locks up, with a weird buzzing
noise coming out of the speakers.

From here I have to do a hard reset to the pc.

My set up is as follows:

Antec case with 400x psu with Asus A7N8X Deluxe m/b, with 1gb pc3200 DDR
ram and a Barton 2500 cpu (running at 2.0ghz). With on-board m/b
(nVidea - nForce) sound chip and 128mb Radeon 9600 pro grx card and 2 x
120gb SATA h/d's and Hitachi 19" monitor. Also using Winxp (home) and
McAfee anti virus and firewall. Using BRD F1 Sim wheel & pedals as
controller.

I've tried re-running the GTL config and selecting different video
resolutions, and also adjusting my sound card settings, and also tried
turning off my anti virus and firewall program, just in case, but still
no joy, this same thing happens everytime I run the program..

Very frustrating, anyone have any clues how to resolve this?

NB: Btw GTR runs fine on my pc.

You could try running the GTL config program and select the shader level
to DX7, 8 or 9 depending upon your card's capability. Apparently auto
sometimes screws things up.

Hope this helps

Thanx Tony but I've already tried that too!

After reading the FAQ on the GTL website, I'm gonna try the starforce
driver update and turning on fast writes (currently turned off) to see
if that helps....

<fingers crossed>

Good luck - it is worth the effort!

HI , i had a problem with GTR on a 3 machines running the 9600 video card
and the only way around it was change the driver to a 9250 and thew game
then ran perfect , it was a strange fix but  the game ran perfect without a
hitch where as before it always was freezing in the menus. Its worth try for
Gt legends it sounds like you have nothing to loose.
Cheers and good luck.

Thanx for the info, but its not my Radeon 9600 card. I've managed to get
the sim working now, I turned on fast writes (in the bios) and in the
grx card options screen) and also updated the starforce drivers and it
seems to work fine now.

I had to also turn off my firewall (McAfee) but I always have to do that
anyway with GTR and Toca Race Driver as I think there is an issue with
McAfee and these games?

Glad to say its all working fine now and my initial reaction is that it
seems like a great sim.

Thanx for all the tips....

8-)
