CART 97 vs. 95 rules

I noticed while listening to the pit commentators (yeah, I do actually
listen to 'em once 'n awhile) during the U.S. 500 that the cars were
getting 35 gals of fuel.  Did they reduce the size of the fuel cells
from 1995 (ala ICR2's 40 gals)?  I know that I sure would like to run my
car in ICR2 with 35 gals of fuel  at Michigan (it handles alot better),
but the AI still use 40 gals (unless I hack the pit window).

I heard mention of the reduced fuel cell size earlier in the season
myself (at Nazareth I believe). It seems to me that running with 35
gals. improves handling on a lot of tracks. Especially ovals. I would
assume that one of the reasons for doing so is that they keep limiting
the amount and kinds of downforce that the cars are allowed to run and
therefore have to reduce the weight somewhat so as not to de-stabilize
the cars too much.

Yes, fuel tank size has been reduced to 35 gallons and boost has been
decreased from 45 to 40 inches.

Al of the cars have 35gal at all tracks now.  As seen in past races it
makes for great pit strategy.

On TV, there is a graphic that shows the pit windows for the cars this
year. By changing the pit window in the TXT file to match the real ones,
you can now race with the computers with 35 gallons, and you won't be at
a disadvantage. For example, in the game, the pit window for Michigan is
41 to 43. If you change it to 30 to 35, the computer cars will pit as if
they are running at 35 gallons. It's a really simple change, and I have
been able to change almost all the tracks to this year's pit windows.

yes its only 35 gal now.  new rule this year.  I like it, makes pit
strats interesting at many tracks.
