Laguna Seca F12K Woes

I have a couple of questions for you experts:

Is Laguna Seca really as bumpy as portrayed in the track?  I race it
in Superbike some, and it seems smooth.  On TV, it's hard to tell, but
it doesn't seem that bad.

Related to that, how do you set up your car?  I've been having real
trouble spinning out going into the carrousel, at the top of the hill.
I have a feeling my car is bottoming out, but how can you tell?  There
is also a huge bump at the turn before the carrousel, it throws the
car sideways.  I've been playing with a setup from Brazil, because I
figured it was as bumpy as F1 gets, without much success.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, the bumps do seem exaggerated. I raised the ride height and softened
the springs somewhat, and I'm running with a lot of wing - but haven't done
enough laps to really be sure. I think the ease of spinning at the top of
the carousel is partly because of the car going over the top and it's
simulating "getting light". My only advice is slow... slow... slow. I drop
down into first gear there.

To check if you're bottoming out, watch the replay from the arcade chase
view. You can see sparks from the underside of your car (assuming you have
that graphic option turned on).

The***pit itself prone to the enhancement of going over bumps, so when you
race on a poor modeled track such as Laguna Seca it's even more apparent
than the other poor modeled tracks ;-)

thus spoke:

I don't know about that. I think most sims make the tracks too smooth.
If you look at onboard footage from the***pit of a real F1 car you
can see the vibration from the bumps. They are not big bumps, but I
don't think the tracks are as smooth as most/all sims have them.

I raced it in Barber Dodge series a few years ago, it is somewhat overdone
but if you consider time and wear it might be accurate.

If you want an accurate version of Laguna Seca, try AMA Superbike ;-)

Agreed there Mr Menard.  The AMA Superbike version of Mid Ohio is the
best one I've seen.  It's a shame the rest of the sim sucked so bad.
