I've been playing it over the weekend, and still can't get over it. It's
just what I've been looking for in a car sim for so many years. Every car sim
maker in the world needs to take a good look at this game, so they may get
just a little bit of an idea of how to make a GOOD car sim.
Wouldn't a PC version of this game be great, especially if it looked like
the playstation intro (with 3DFX), a track editor, and a nuetral gear (so you
can drop the clutch on take-off), the only things the game is lacking at
present.

I remember some 3Dfx site saying that the programmers of Gran Turismo
are very interested in making a PC/3Dfx version of the game after
being impressed by 3Dfx technology, but they are waiting for an answer
if the publisher ok's that. Who's the publisher of the game? Sony?

Do I remember right that Gran Turismo didn't have a***pit view, but
rather a "on hood" view with a few dials and gauges on the screen like
in Sega Rally and Need for Speed 2 SE? Quite a few PC simmers seem to
think that alone will make a driving game worthless as a sim. :-)
But I don't agree with those people. I would love to see a PC version
of this game.
Any *** simmers out there, what is your opinion about Gran
Turismo? I heard somebody complain about the AI, is that true?
Also I find it very surprising how some people claim Gran Turismo has
the best graphics in any PC or console driving game, is that true too?
Hard to believe they would be better than F1RS graphics. :)

Believe me its true. I saw the game demo at a store on the weekend and it
looks really good. My first though was I should have bought a playstation
rather than a voodoo2 card.

You know the racing intro on F1RS. The game's graphics look a lot like that,
except thay are full screen. And I thought the playstaion was old technology.

I disagree. I feel about the Gran Turismo graphics about the same way
as what Videogamespot said, that is that while it looks somewhat
better than other Playstation racing games, it still looks like a
Playstation game. Rather sparse graphics, low resolution and all that.

Maybe what you saw were the replays? They are quite different from the
actual game graphics, while you are driving that is.

I think you have only seen the replays of Gran Turismo. The graphics
when you are actually racing are much worse. I think they have used
some tricks for the replays, why else do they look so much better than
the graphics while racing?

The graphics are very good, but aren't quite as 'pretty' as F1RS, but I
would
hope a PC version with 3DFX would match or better F1RS. But it's not really the
graphics that make GT such a good game. It's the realism of the driving model, and
the depth of play.

In that case a PC version is at least possible, because Sony has
already successfully ported a couple of their cames to PC, namely
Twisted Metal 2 and Jet Moto. They use Direct3D, but they look better
and are much faster than the Playstation versions, depending on the PC
speed of course. I hope the same would be true for PC Gran Turismo
too. :-)

I'm going to buy Playstation anyway due to Metal Gear Solid and maybe
Tekken 3, but I would still rather see a PC version of Gran Turismo
for a couple of reasons, namely that naturally the PC version should
look better with hires graphics, PC version shouldn't be as restricted
with save modules, and I rather buy just one great wheel/pedals for my
PC than two mediocre wheel/pedals for both my PC and Playstation.
Are there any wheels that can be used on both PC and Playstation?

Actlabs Force RS wheel can be used with a PC and PSX (or N64 or Saturn).  It
uses a cartridge  for the different systems, and has I-Force 2.0 for a
suggested retail price of only $99.  It supposed to be available any day
now.

Hi there,

: Any *** simmers out there, what is your opinion about Gran
: Turismo? I heard somebody complain about the AI, is that true?

The AI cars are very good in 'defending their own driving lines' :)

A bit slow in some of the races though ...

: Also I find it very surprising how some people claim Gran Turismo has
: the best graphics in any PC or console driving game, is that true too?
: Hard to believe they would be better than F1RS graphics. :)

Well ... have you tried the HI-FI race/replay yet? (HI-FI special
races only appear after you got the International A Licence) I don't know
what they did to it, but the frame rate seems to be higher than normal
play.

The replays looks fantastic ... the reflection off the cars looks
so cool!

        Cheers,
