I've had to re-install V3 twice now. Sometimes when I go back to run it I
just get F12001!

Anyone else seen this. The last two times I've run it it's been ok though.

Make sure that the shortcut that launches V3 contains this parameter
(rightclick / properties / target):

"C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\F1 2001\F1-2001.exe"  config=CONFIGFIAGTV3.INI

As you can see, the V3 MOD makes use of the normal exe, but with an added
line that points to the V3 *.ini file. I know this, because I couldn't
launch the V3 MOD through my Wingman Profiler (I got the standard F1 game
instead).

    You CAN launch via the Wingman controller, but you have to point the
Wingman software to the SHORTCUT not the exe file.

Thanks for the tip.  I have wondered for awhile how to do this and it never
occured to me to point to the shortcut.  Seems pretty obvious in hindsite
however.  (doesn't everything?)     ;o)

config=CONFIGFIAGTV3.INI

Yeah, I figured that out right away, but at the final step it seemed as if
the Wingman software hadn't nominated the shortcut, but the file that the
shortcut pointed to. Which was the normal *.exe file, and that's no good of
course. I think the V2 MOD had similar problems, where I made a new profile
which launched the normal F1 game. But if you've got it working, maybe I
will look at it again.

Well, have you?

   yes, it seemed easy...I haven't done it for V3 since I broke my LWFF.
But with V2 I just pointed to the shortcut and the profile would load
automatically.  Check and make sure the video line in the two config files
match.  The two files are the original F1 config file called
config.ini and the second file is configfiagtv3.ini
both files will have a bunch of text inside, if you open them up(like with
notepad)
here is the line you want to look for.
OBJDETAIL=3
TEXDETAIL=3
VIDEOGUID=D7B71E3E-4141-11CF-E57D-312001C2C935   <<<<<<<this one!
GAME_DATABASE=GAME.GDB

  make sure the long text/number string that comes after the = symbol are
exactly the same.
copy the config.ini text/number string and paste it into the proper place in
the configfiagtv3.ini file.

good luck.

Looked at it, but it didn't work for me. Those Video-lines in the *.ini
files are the same, but I don't think that's the problem anyway. My guess
is, the Wingman software is too 'clever'. It recognizes the assigned GT-V3
shortcut as such, and goes directly to the file it refers to. But by doing
so, it bypasses the special parameter in the shortcut, that tells it to use
the 'configfiagtv3.ini'. If I knew of a way to set that parameter in the
actual F1-2001.exe file itself, the problem would be solved. I could simply
take the original F1-2001.exe file, copy it, rename the copy to
F1-2001-GT.exe (for example), and edit that file to use the
'configfiagtv3.ini'. I could then make a profile with that *.exe file.

Anyway, it's no big thing, as it works without using the Wingman profiler
:)

Cheers,

You can always just backup the CONFIG.INI and rename CONFIGFIAGTV3.INI to
CONFIG.INI.  Then you can just run the normal F12001 exe to run the mod.

I suppose that's true, hadn't thought of that. You would have to switch the
files back and forth to play both the F1 game and the GT MOD like that, not
a big problem. Actually, the only reason I use the profiler is so I can
change CAM-views with a wheel button (insert key > button 6), but that seems
to work without launching the GT MOD from the profiler (when the normal F1
2001 profile is selected in the profiler, that binding transfers to the GT
MOD somehow).

By the way: I have found that after watching a replay, the keybinding on the
wheel no longer works (also in F1 2001 game).
