Screamer Rally?

Not very highly.  The tracks are drab, uninspired, and seem dead
compared to the highly-animated visuals of Screamer 2.  Don't expect any
low-flying helicopters or grazing animals.  The graphics engine is getting
a bit long in the tooth even with (perhaps especially with) 3D support.
Like the 3Dfx-patched Screamer 2, there are very obvious hairline cracks
between the scenery polygons.  It should be noted to those people who
hated this aspect of NFS2SE and IRC that there is no dashboard in the
***pit view.
The tracks themselves are generally poorly laid out and fare badly
compared to S2's tracks.  There are very few great corners or areas where
the feeling of speed is great.  Control and driving feel is nearly
identical to S2, though perhaps not as loose on the straights.  The same
setup options are available in championship mode.  The cars attempt to
look more realistic and are loose representations of actual rally cars
(Celica, Escort, Megane, Integrale (?) and Lancer (?).  For interest's
sake, the car graphics pale in comparison to those in IRC.
Incidentally, the engines sound just like they did in S2: Awful!
The music is half-decent electronic but let me note that SR's
wannabe-drum'n'bass is nowhere near as good as IRC's sometimes-inspired
sountrack.
Overall, if I wanted a good rally game I'd get IRC, look for Sega
Rally in a bargain bin, stick with S2, go buy Ignition (if you were a Big
Red Racing fan...), or wait for VRally.
