Steering Wheels

Well, with the current thread about 'budget' steering wheels,
I may as well add my penn'orth.

I built a wheel/pedal set for F1GP. The total cost was
1.99 UKPounds (1.79 for the 15-pin plug, 20p for cable).

For the pedal pots I used linear slider pots off an old record
player, and construction was wood (packing from a self-assembly
cabinet).

For the steering wheel, I used a 1MegOhm rotary pot (bass
control off the same record player!), with
a 45rpm size turntable (guess where this came from!) as
the steering wheel. It looks extremely tacky, but it
doesn't half improve the laptimes (as well as being able
to turn the annoying steering 'help' off).

However, given the improvement in enjoyment, I am now seriously
considering purchasing a yoke/pedal set. Any suggestions?

William

My opinions are mine. Call me possessive, but that's the way it is.
