Brit Seeking NASCAR Help Please

Just bought my NASCAR today - first impressions very good but now I
will have to buy a Pentium to use SVGA (should be worth it though - it
looks sensational, even at only 4-5 fps!).

However, I think we've been dumped upon again. No real driver names or
ratings and a manual which only runs to 20 pages (actually 80 but the
rest is in some foreign languages). Three lines is not enough to tell us
how to run a track - even if it is an oval! ICR was over 100 pages so
methinks that *** are ***ing us about. I cannot believe that users in
the States would put up with this.

Can anybody suggest how I can ftp the USA Cars and Drivers files for
NASCAR, or would some kind soul please, please mail me his drivers.txt
file so I can enter it up. It's a crying shame to ruin a game this good
because of stupid licensing rules.

Just think for a moment - you guys are all moaning because you haven't
got Dale in your game - we haven't got anybody!!!!!!!

Try ftp'ing to FTP.WEBCOM.COM in directory pub/zyllyx/iwcc/paint and get
the file iwcccars.zip.  It contains the 1995 drivers and sponsors with
accurate information and new paint.

Gary:

Can't beleive that the manual you got only has 20 pages.  The
manual that you get here is 176 pages.  Anyway, you can get the
94 cars on ftp site: didnt.doit.wisc.edu    The cars look great!
Happy Racing.

Tried ftp to get the car data files, only problem now is that the
garage won't load. Looks as tho the program, unlike indycar, use names
to identify each car internally and when the garage screen draws car
number 13 (which has become car 3 in the US .DAT file) in the pits it
cannot find the car name it is looking for in the data file. I can see
these names using XTGOLD to view the .DAT file and they are different
UK to US. I am staggered they went to that level of trouble (designing
and renaming another 38 car field) just to avoid licensing troubles.

Looks like the only solution for UK users is to save each car out of
the US data file and rename it to the Uk name before importing it back
in. This means the car panel colours have to be manually copied. Still
I've got nothing better to do whilst waiting for my P90....

If Papyrus read this (and they have replied to me before, haven't you
JANE????), it might be nice to see a posting explaining the appalling
manual and the above car problems.

The UK nay european is in fact only 78 pages long of which 20 are in
English, of those 20 five are about installing and problems.  How I wish
we could have just the text of your 176.
