Ford/XB engine and Lola9300 chassis (or 9400 if you are using the
cars94.dat) is one thing - Buuick engine will give you even more power.
Then you need to AVOID the tire screeching, since it does slow you down,
as
you said. The default ACE setup is well balanced for a medium fuel load,
so
for the highest speeds you may even be able to take some rear wing out.
Once
your back end comes around you know you are too low ;-)). The tires,
pressure
and camber seem to be dialed-in quite well. I like slighly stiffer shocks
to
have a bit more precise steering input (I use a Gravis joystick, DON'T
drive
with the keyboard: it sucks!). The rest of gettig good speed is really
your
line thru the corners. I started out with 215mph laps, and got to 218
pretty
fast. But breaking 220 took a while. Getting a 4-lap average above 220 is
tough.
I usually start qualifying at 218.xxx and get faster in lap 2. I heard
of somebody on the Papyrus BBS claiming a 226.xxx lap speed. Maybe there
is
a totally different way of running it. Stagger? Maybe that's the secret -
works
for me on tight ovals.
