I've seen a few posts about steering problems with NT2004 and Logi
Momo.  I'm having problems also.  Steering seems overly twitchy,
'drifty' (is that a word) and inconsistent.  FF a bit on the
light/weak side also...   haven't had time to mess around with setups
yet, so I don't know if that will make any difference.  Was just
wondering if anyone has come up with any tweaks or fixes for the momo
steering.  I've never had problems with steeing in an EA title before.

I don't have it yet so this may not apply, but the things I always have to
do with other EA/ISI games to get the steering to feel right are:

- Set steering axis sensitivity to 50%
- Set steering axis deadspot to 0%
- Set speed sensitivity to 0%
- Reduce the lock angle in the vehicle setup screen to 16% or less (probably
much less for speedways)
- Make sure the FF strength slider is set to a negative number
- Make sure the FF type is "wheel"

If that doesn't clear it up you might want to add some caster.  Also, when
setting axis sensitivities, if you have multiple controllers make sure you
are setting it for the correct controller.

Please post a reply telling us whether this works or not so that other
people who have the same question won't have to ask it again.  ;o)

I'd say this is a legitimate topic..no ot needed.
If this is a USB wheel, try powering up and then removing the usp plug.
Wait a moment and reconnect.  If that doesn't work, remove the wheel
drivers and reboot.  Windows should automatically detect the wheel.
If it's not usb, then just try re-installing the drivers.

Thank for the input, but did not help me much, still feels way to free, just
no resistance in the wheel, more like you floating around the track.  Too,
bad NT2004 has great graphics, but that and no AI in multi-player kills it
for me.

I had the same problem a couple of times with my non-FF Sidewinder wheel
(USB). None of the above "tricks" worked. The only thing that did work for
me was to connect the wheel to another computer, and then back to the ***
machine.

OK - here is the follow up:

Much better using these settings!  The most improvement was made by
setting the FF to negative 100%. I had forgotten that all of the EA F1
titles and mods work best on my rig at that setting.  I am
experimenting with steering axis sensitivity also, right now ive got
it set to 30%.  Steering does not feel light anymore and there is far
more control. The light feeling, lagginess  and "driftiness" is gone.
The only complaint I still have is that the FF seems to give too much
of a "jolt" (unrealistic) to the wheel when you hit small bumps on a
straight stretch, but I have not even begun tweaking that.  All in
all, I am now satisfied, it controls as well as any other title now.

Yeah, the FF still isn't quite right to me.  Can't put my finger on the
problem but it certainly doesn't feel as good as GTR 2002 or F1C.  Other
than the FF, the game seems quite solid so far.  Doesn't really feel that
much different than N2003 so if the net code improves a bit, Papy Nascar
fans should feel quite at home.  The cars actually convey the feeling of
gripping the road very well which has often been lacking in Papy games
(though N2003 is pretty good in that respect.)  Haven't tested the AI or the
career mode yet.  The dedicated server seems quite good but there's no admin
access - only a simple voting system.

Steve - I found your comment very interesting.  I agree that there is
something not quite right with the FF (its close, but something....)
and also I find that the feeling of the car gripping the road is quite
nice, better than the Papy Nascar titles IMO.
