Off topic: Screen turns green - whats wrong?

I know this is way of topic but i am having some problems with my montior.
I hope some of you good hearted people out there will take a few minutes
and read, think and hopefully explain to me what's wrong....

I've got a P90 wilch i use for surfing and reading news only, i use my
other P200 for paying, so i'm not having problems with that part.

Anyway my computer is as i said a P90 with 32mbram, ATI Pro Turbo PIC
Mach64 (ver.4.0) videocard (2mb - i think) and a MAG 15" screen (model
no:LX1564L) and a screen driver for Mag-InnoVision DX15F. I use windows 95
with  the plus pack and  a 1024x768 pixels desktop resolution with
thousends (sp?) of colours (16-bit)
I have uptil now connected the monitor powersupply thru the PC.

What happens is: when i turn the computer on everythings fine, but after
i've used it for some time, the screen starts to sort of "blink" every now
and then. As time passes by the "blinking gets worse and eventually the
screen turns green. I can read all thets on it but everything's got sort of
a green shade to it. Like if one of the colours are missing.

Anyone got any idea of whats wrong. Is my monitor "cracking" up or could it
be a video-card problem??
Please help!!

Edwin,
It sounds like your video card took a dump. They usually lose one color
either Red, Green or Blue when they blow. Looks like you have lost one
of them. Sorry to hear that.

Well, since you have two computers (and I assume two monitors), then
troubleshooting is made easy:

#1) Swap monitors.  Which one goes green now?  My guess is it is the same
one.

A - If the same monitor turns green, it is the monitor
B - If the P90 still turns green, it is the video card (or cable)

From there you'll have a picture of what is bad.  It won't determine what
in the part is bad, just which monitor is bad.

Most likely the HV (high voltage) is dropping out.  That is the blink.
You may, or may not, also hear a slight pop or crack when this blink
happens.

In any case, I would bet it is the monitor.  Start saving for a new one,
or at least a used one.

Well, it also could be a problem with the video cable.  Is it seated
tightly?  You might want to try removing it and reconnecting it.  Also
play with the cable (kinking and unkinking it) when it starts to turn
green.  This is a long shot, but I have seen this be the problem before.
Also try swapping monitors to see if it's the card or the monitor.

Try reseating your video card, too.

You might be able to have it repaired. I've seen some monitor repair
places that will fix a monitor, no matter what is wrong with it (as long
as it is repairable), for a maximum of $75 or so.

I should also say that when you lose HV, you usually lose all video.  I
don't know why you are only losing two guns (red/blue).

You may want to call a monitor repair place on the phone.  See if they
will answer any questions without seeing it (they'll just be guessing).
If they won't answer questions on the phone, don't go to that shop to get
it looked at.  Most shops will say they need to see it, but ask them what
they think it is and if they have seen it before.

It could be as simple as replacing some caps, or as bad as a new tube.
Either way, a good shop should answer that one on the phone.

Oh, and that assumes it is the monitor (which it probably is).  Once you
swap them then you will know for sure.
