Anybody know if Sergio's versions of Laguna Seca and Osterichring are
originial works or "updates" of Noonan's shareware converter?  Listed
below:

Hi Art.  Osterreichring is included in Noonan's authorized track pack.  I
don't know what is different between that and Sergio's track, but if all he
is doing is a graphics update for an already free track there should not be
a problem.

Regarding Laguna Seca I couldn't find anything about its origins but it
seems Sergio has a good reputation for his original GPL tracks and so I
would guess it is legit.

IMO that version of laguna is crap.

Its not the papy version that was created for ICR1(2) which I believe to be
much much more realistic. Especially after watching some real incar trans am
vids that were posted some time ago.

The version of Laguna from ICR2 is the old layout (actually the 2nd
layout, since there was the pre-andretti hairpin one).  The pit
entrance in Noonan's conversion is similar to the modern one since he
added the wall coming around the inside of the last corner, but the
straight/right/straight/left onto the front stretch isn't quite the
same anymore.  The first straight is shorter and the front strretch is
longer, with the pit entrance wrapping around the inside of the last
turn where the old layout was.
