I have a problem with my computer and N2...if anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear from you.
When I try to start N2, there's a 50-50 chance that it won't start. I get the movie OK, then the startup info lines, then nothing...a black screen and a dead system. Only way out is to power down. Next time it may run fine, or may not...it's very sporadic. I have 3 installs of N2 on my system, and they are all the same..maybe start, maybe not.

System is as follows:
430 TX Mainboard
Intel P166MMX
32 MB EDO RAM
SB Pro sound card
Diamond Stealth II video card
Motorola K56flex modem
2 1.6 gig HDDs, non UDMA, one utilizing FAT32 and one with FAT16(N2 is on the FAT32 drive)
Win 95 OSR2, running N2 in MS-DOS mode(not a dos session under Windows) with only mouse and CD-Rom drivers loaded.

I've called and e-mailed Sierra and Diamond until they know me by name...no help. Anyone out there ever have a similar problem?

Thanks in advance..

First, I would try telling it in setup that you don't have a sound card, and see if it works.  This will tell you that your sound card is the problem.  If that isn't it, I would try seeing if you installed univbe.  If you did, uninstall it, and try again.  If that doesn't work, try installing on the fat16 drive.  If that doesn't work, go to the hardware store, buy a big sledgehammer, use it, and then buy a different computer.

Have you tried REM'ing out the line that runs the intro in N2.bat?  That has solved the problem for most.

Dan.
