Can't manual shift in Viper w/ MSFF

I can set the buttons for upshift and downshift in Viper Racing from the
MSFF, but once I'm start driving, I can only shift into 1st - after that I
can't downshift nor upshift anymore.  Driving in auto kind of defeats the
purpose.  (I've tried all the buttons to no avail)).  Does anyone else have
this problem with the MS FF wheel?  I'm running W98 and dx6.

Are you using autoclutch? If not, you need to depress the clutch to change
gear (its an option in driving aids)
