Indy 500 setup

by WILLIAM SMI » Fri, 16 Jun 1995 04:00:00

Using the game INDIANAPOLIS 500 - THE SIMULATION, I have done
laps over 241 MPH.  I've seen that other people in this
conference have not done over 240 MPH so I will post my
setup.  Remember, this is the setup for Indy 500, NOT IndyCar Racing
at Indianapolis!!!

Compared to other setups I have used, this QUALIFYING setup is
very driveable.  I am usually above the white line or with the left
wheels slightly under it on all 4 laps.  This setup is
for the LOLA-BUICK.  Although I am sure you could put
it on the other cars, you won't be doing over 241 MPH!

1.      10 gallons
2.      Set your wings at the top levels.  Then lower the front
        end one notch.
3.      RS tyres are medium compounds
        LS   "    "  soft       "
4.      Full stagger (1.0")
5.      Type pressures:     (LF)29      25(RF)
                                27      26
6.      Set shocks to full firm.  Then soften each type the following
        number of notches:              1       2
                                        0       0
7.      Cambers:        +0.25   -0.50
                        +1.00   +0.25
I'll let you setup the gear ratios and the sway bars.  (Hint: My
engine won't last more than 7 or 8 laps!!!)
