F1GP2 RELEASE DATE.

by Dave Palac » Wed, 29 May 1996 04:00:00

I put in an advance order for GP2 a couple of weeks ago when the release
date was May 28.  I called today and they said it was pushed back to the
end of July. He also said this date looks pretty good but of course it
might be pushed back again.

Just thought you guys would like to know.

Dave, nothing against you or the other "release date" posts, so please
don't take this personally, but aren't there enough of these from all
different software stores with their supposed "F1GP2" information?
Don't you think after reading them for almost a year that we would've
learned something by now?  It will be here when it gets here.  I would
rather see "RELEASED DATE" than anything else. :)  Most stores only
have "confirmed" dates from either the manufacturer or their
distributor, and these have and will always, with any package, be
subject to extreme scheduling "flux."

I guess I'm just tired of getting these every day, and although most
are well-intentioned (as yours truly is), I could call up a dozen
retailers here in the U.S. and get a dozen or more so-called "release
dates."  I'm waiting patiently, and when it happens, it happens.

Dave, thanks for providing a service to everyone, this was not to slam
your good intentions in any way, shape or form.  It's just that you've
probably read as many of these as I have and by now you've got to
realize that the future will get here, however slowly, when Geoff
wants it to, ready and finished for us to race.

I assumed he preordered from MPS directly. If that's the case then
I find this of some interest. I don't understand why MPS doesn't set
an official release date instead of leaving it up rumors and hear say.

On a side note, I noticed the F1GP 2 web page at MPS now list the
minimum as a DX4/100 with P90 prefered. They must have changed this is
the last couple weeks because it was originally DX/33 with DX2/66
prefered.

How sneaky can you get?  Oh, well, I'm getting the game regardless of
the requirements...it just means that DX4/100 upgrade I just did now
becomes a Pentium upgrade in the near future. :)
