a few icr questions...

by Thomas Weiche » Sun, 17 Apr 1994 00:14:07

Hi out there, netters...

Just a few hopefully easily answered question..

1 Where do I find a patch to replace the sound in ICR!?
Already installed 1.04, nice game HORRIFFIC Sound
Barely better than the original Indy500. If Microprose could
do it in F1G, Papyrus should, too!

2 A little while ago someone posted an article about a F1GP & ICR ftp site
Turns out to be a Mac, therefor (sorry kids) not working very well
as a server, timing out constantly. Any replicas of around? I am
looking for setups and the likes....

3 Did i miss something? a blown front tyre, and still i go round'n'round
at 180 mph, no problem steering, same with accellerating on the
grass! There is no hidden REAL REALITY switch somewhere, or is there?

4 How about a nice editor like f1ed2 for ICR? Any GIVERS??

Ah well, nothing's even virtually perfect......

Thanx                                           Thomas

What kind of sound board are you using? F1GP sounds like ***compared to
ICR on a basic 8-bit soundblaster. If you have a Gravis - well, that
should
even be worse...

You must have THE worst connection on the entire internet, since about 20
people connect and SUCCESFULLY download from that Mac. At least it doesn't
crash as often as that 486/66 I try to run ICR on - can you spell "divide
overflow" ;-) also - if you looked around in that site you don't like
because
it's a mac, you'd actually find out where else to look. Sorry, but I
can't help
a prejudiced person any further.

Are you talking about F1GP? Blown tires didn't even exist! so - we're
getting
a bit closer to reality - and if you noticed last weekend: Villeneuve
t-boned
Hiro at 120mph, ripping apart that car and LOST a wheel, but still drove
it to the pits. Obviously hasd steering, just like Micheal Andretti, who
lost
a front wheel and drove her home...

Maybe you wanna look in that Macintosh archive again?

--- JUst thought I'd add my 2 cents as well.  Too bad the comp. drivers
in ICR couldn't 'nurse' their cars to the pits once in awhile.  Some of the
do-called accidents involving comp. cars are really minor.  I can get my
car to the pits, on most occasions, they rub tires, they're out.  Also,
an irratation of sorts, the moment a comp. driver begins spinning the yellow
is out instantly, Christ, I can spin all the way down the front stretch
and the yellow won't fly (until I 'collect' somebody, that is :)
--- Wanted to also reiterate on the comp. pit-stop problems.  I was about
55 laps into N.Hampshire the other night (about the range of a tank of
fuel- close enough anyway) and a yellow ironincally came out.  Well, I dove
into the pits-fine- the comp. cars didn't.  2 to 3 laps later they all
flocked in.  Too bad they couldn't pit a bit more on yellow's especially
when that close to runnin on empty.  I know this has been discussed here
but I just noticed a prime spot where they really should have and didn't.
That ye'all be interested.

Peter,

Nice rebuttle, how about telling the rest of us where this
Mac server is?  I'd love to poke around there and decide
for myself how fast it is.  Thanks!

Oops!  Found it!  Now I see why you were so upset with the
original poster (your site, eh?)  Anyhow, for the record,
it runs quite quickly and is nicely organized.  Thanks for
making it available!
