No Monaco  -- I don't buy this sim.  Monaco is the raison d'etre of Grand
Prix racing.  It is the ultimate test of driving skill.  There is no other
track in the world like Monaco and there will be no other like it ever again
period.

Papyrus do not make this mistake.  I can live without Indiannapolis in ICR2
but take away Monaco from me and you are not having my
money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the point of monaco needing to be in this sim (its the only
track I drive on GP2 anymore) but they can still have my money even if they
dont include it :-)

I just had a thought, is GPL going to be released in the UK at the same
time as in the states? It better be or there'll be hell to pay :)

Its not there chioce.  If they can't get the rights for the track, how
can they make it?!?  Its that simple, they of course, would love to
have the track in there, but if its not possible, well, then, just
live without having that track.  Why is it such a bit deal?

I don't really understan this. Every F1 sim I've ever seen (even
arcaders like the Psygnosis game) have Monaco. Why can't Papyrus?

And if they don't have it, will there be a replacement "fantasy"
tracks with similarly difficult twists and turns, and great scenery?
Or will there just be a big hole in the sim where Monaco should be?

Well, nit until someone makes a race in the streets of Paris, Nice,
London or any other city which has a lot of atmosphere but no circuit.

You may be exaggerating Monaco's importance just a little.

Cheers!

Your loss then, my friend.

Crap! To put it politely!Monaco is the ultimate test of a driver staying awake
and keeping his concentration going for the length of the race.
There is a far greater test of driving skill on circuits such as the
Nordschliefe Nurburgring and the original Spa Francorchamps than what Monaco
provides.

Thank God!  If Monaco were to apply for a round of the F1 Championship now they
would have a snowballs' chance in Hell of success.  Even Graham Hill, who won
there so often, hated the ***y place.....as did/do most drivers.

Once again.......your loss.

If Monaco is held on public streets, why would they have to pay a
licence fee to anyone to depict it in a computer game?

I'm sure EA didn't pay a fee for depicting the Sydney Harbour Bridge
in NFS2 for example...

The other sims have got their licensing from FIA (or via FOCA) who
presumably don't have any rights to many of the tracks being featured in
GPL. So Papy will have to negotiate on a track by track basis and, in
some cases, may find that existing licenses (those via FIA) make it
difficult to obtain them.

Unfortunately all this is a 'lose/lose' situation - we lose by not
getting the tracks and the track owners / trademark holders lose by
looking like mean spirited money grabbers with no understanding of the
marketplace (e.g. Indy, Daytona). Hopefully all this will resolve itself
before long and we won't find exclusive rights being granted in the
future.

Cheers,
Richard

Here I see 2 great reasons to not include Monaco. You and it are shit
