IWCCCARS: So long from Tony

Everyone --

This is my last post in my capacity as IWCCCARS coordinator.  It's
been a lot of fun, but things change and so do the times, and it's
time for me to move on.

First off, the rumors are true (for those who still haven't confirmed
their suspicions).  I have accepted a job with Papyrus in Watertown,
MA, so I'm giving up IWCCCARS in keeping with Sierra's policies.  I am
not, in fact, replacing Ed Martin.  My job is just entry-level, but
it's worth the move.

David Sparks, who you will recognize as a frequent contributor to
r.a.s. and a beta tester for NASCAR 2, will be replacing me as
coordinator for the Project.  I've talked with him and I'm convinced
he'll do a terrific job.  Additionally, Jan Kohl from The Pits and the
guys from GIT.NET have agreed to host IWCCCARS on their server.  The
new URL for the site will be:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Jeff Foglietta has informed me that he has submitted the first
"nostalgia" cars for NASCAR 2, so once the new site is online, check
'em out!

Thanks, and it's been fun.  Don't forget to stop by SimRacing Online
once or twice and say hello! <G>

I'd like to second Tom.  Thanks Tony, the IWCCCARS was a godsend for us
Winston Wannabies.  Good luck at Papyrus, ..in the words of Capt. Kirk:
Push, Push until it hurts and then push somemore, you are the only man who
Can make a difference...

Anyone seen this??

Racing Tally in a 30% race.  The yellow comes out and the whole field
heads for pit row.  Since the whole field is pitting at the same time, the
tail end checks up.  I lightly brush the last 3 or 4 cars.  I pit knowing
that I have passed these cars under yellow.  What I didn't know, until
reviewing the replay was, one of these cars decides to head back out onto
the track.  This car, now in first, enters the pits as the Green flies and
I get black flagged for passing under yellow, which is fine.

The problem is..... I came right in for my stop 'n go.  I stopped but I
couldn't go.  I was held until that lone car made it all the way around
the track and passed me.  Almost 30 seconds.  I thought that my T1 had
crapped out or the game had locked. It wasn't until that car passed me did
I get the green and get to scoot out, now a lap down.

I've saved this replay, Jim/Adam/Charlie ya interested?

Sounds to me like you passed under yellow, and your penalty was
assessed as ensuring that you did not gain a position by it. Since the
car you gained a position on had not yet retaken his (rightful)
position, you were held in the pits. It's probably not what a human
WCup official would have done, but it is within the letter of the WCup
rules...

Congratulations.  I hope you have lots of fun and success in your new
job.  Don't eat too many lobsters. ;-)

You don't get a stop-n-go penalty for passing under yellow. You are held in
the pits until all the cars you passed under yellow have passed you back.
