I know not everyone knows about WSC nee RL by the Wests but it's been a
topic of converstation from time to time. Last I heard the guys had designed
a completely renovated team transporter for Lotus from 1967 or so. It was
the subject of  a  lot of jokes that the guys can spend all their time
designing a rendering a team transporter but can't give us a working demo in
about 5 years time.
Well guess what? Their dream team transporter that they reconstructed from
pictures is the subject of an Autoweek article. I have to admit they did a
great job rendering it. The real reconstructed team transporter is on page
30 of Autoweek volume 55, issue 23. Take a look if you care about stuff like
that. Makes you wonder, "will the real RL become reality as well?"

As of today, I'd say no.  Thinking a week ahead, say to next week, I'd say
no.  Projecting a bit further, maybe 'til the end of the summer-- maybe
September-- I'd say no.

Bounding ahead to the next US Presidential election, in 2008, ask me the
same question, and I'd say no.

Jumping forward, to maybe the when the US finally decides it can't bully the
world into submission- the year 3010, I'd have the same answer: no.

That pretty much covers it.  The "nos" know it and have it.

It'll never happen.

They were just finishing it up when alas, this article and picture were
published.  Now they have to start over from scratch.  (yet again)

What gets me, and I'm not American, is the U.S. haters will rant on and on
about how the U.S.A. is trying to bully everyone, but when situations like
Iraq invading Kuwait, Somalia, N.Korea and similar occur, what would be the
general consensus if the U.S and G.B sat back on their fat, capitalist arses
and did the same as the rest of the world...nothing . Uproar..that's right.
"Why is nobody going to help the poor souls ?!!!"" Think of the children !!!
" etc..etc..
Bush and Blair may be far from perfect, but they do realize what needs to be
done ..

I doubt anyone really thinks that Iraq was some huge military force
threatening the world.  They were no threat to anyone, except to themselves.

But we bullied them because they are nothing, militarily.  The US cannot and
shouldn't not poke their noses into someone else's affairs.  If it's an
internal situation, let it work itself out internally.

If you still think the war in Iraq was justified, then I can do nothing for
you.  But once we're in, as a country, I'm in total support.  I don't
support the government entering the war, but I support the troops.

The US likes to pick on small countries, one's that they can overwhelm with
military power.  Vietnam didn't turn out as America thought it would; and
neither, it appears, is this current war with Iraq.

In short, if America thinks it should do something about every country
that's having internal squabbles, we only weaken ourselves.  Going to war
with Iraq was the wrong thing to do.  Far from improving things, the war has
made things much worse.

OT over.  :)

I would think the people of Kuwait were a little threatened when they woke
up one morning, opened the curtains and saw a few thousand heavily armed
Iraqi troops rounding up the locals. I lived in Kuwait for 4 years and they
were certainly threatened...even before the invasion.

Like Africa ?

Most countries are smaller than the U.S.A..  (Geography 101)
So if  Norway(example) decides to build nuclear weapons and threaten Sweden,
then we should all ignore it and wait for a country of equal or smaller size
to intervene ???

Worse for who ? If you didn't know what conditions were like pre invasion
then how can you know ?

I'm speaking of the latest invasion, my kind friend.  I am obviously not
speaking of the first Iraq War.  The first war I agreed with; this last
invasion was totally wrong on all accounts, the younger Bush only setting it
in motion to avenge his father.

 >
Do you think we'd even consider invading China or other countries with a
stronger military?  Never.  America picks on the little guy.  Threatening
another country is a completely different issue, some of which involve
treaty agreements.  I sincerely doubt that Iraq was threatening anyone.

It would be worse for Americans in particular.  It's pretty well established
by those who want to listen and are not blindly patriotic that the war in
Iraq has diverted funds that could've gone to America's own war on terror
and other domestic issues.  Saddam had nothing to do with terrorism, and
America's invasion of Iraq has actually helped terrorists recruit.  The
second invasion of Iraq was a bone-headed move.
