Mark, hopefully we will have some more setups up this
weekend! We have hot setups up for Philip Island and
Monza also there are some replays. We are working on
the A1 Ring right now and hopefully we will have those
posted shortly. This is one tricky track. Running 1.27.75
right now and still have shock valving to play with.
Philips setup has run a 1.33.14 and Monza a 1.41.85,
these were all done with Hondas. We will have some
setups to go up for other bikes as well.
By the way no jumping the esses in Monza were used
as the replay shows.

Tried your Monza settings and I have no idea how you got 1.41! Bike handles like
a bowl of jelly. Still, others I know have tried it and got better times than
they had before. Just like on real bikes it seems some like the bike to be
twitchy and fast response, i,e, Short wheelbase and small rake angle, whilst
some like the bike to steer like a barge.

Your site looks like it will be of great use to use pretend Michael
Doohans. Thanks for the time and effort you are putting into it.

Mark, did you look at the replay? The second lap shows a
1.42.00  I suspect a difference in hardware (i'm using a CH
Flightstick) or possibly graphic detail may also play a part.
If you are using any digital inputs you may have to change
the sensitivity in controls section.
The reason I keep my wheel base longer is so that I can
take the sweepers with a much higher rate of speed, with
some penalty in handling response in the s's but I try and
use the throttle to compensate.
There will be some new setups going up shortly that were
done by Barry Clay. He prefers a shorter wheelbase with
different shock valving to myself so prehaps it will suit your
driving style.
In regards to my setup if you brake too soon going into the
corners the bike will wallow. I'm accelerating through the corner
as soon as I get into first gear I only wait slightly before getting
back into it. Tried finding the individual telemetry files but it looks
like they are combined for each track. I will look at it some more
today and post them on the site if Jure gets time.

Tired you setting again and compared the telemetry with my preferred setup.
Definately faster entering the long sweepers but my setup seems to allow better
acceleration out of them. My twitchy setup doesn't like hitting the ripples too
much so it makes consistent laps a little bit harder. Also the Honda just chews
the wheels with the short wheelbase.

Tried riding as you have described and I can get close to your time, 1:42.7
without cutting the second esses, but....Yeech.....sea sickness. I can get to
low 1::42 with the short wheelbase but it gets too hard to concentrate to avoid
highsiding.

Reminds me of watching how Wayne Gardner used to wrestle the bike and throw it
through corners like I do and other riders, such as Lawson, place the bike
precisely each lap and never seemd to be hurrying except when you looked at
their lap times.

I'll try the FF Wheel again and see how I go but it just doesn't seem as natural
as a joystick.

P.S. With the web site the fast laps should also mention the waether conditions.
I would love some setups people have tried for the cloudy weather where you can
just about use Soft A's on any bike.

Mark, glad it helped! What I suspect you may need to do
is take bits and pieces from a number of setups to make the
perfect one! I have sent Jure my new setup and replay for the
A1 Ring to be posted on the site! I too have noticed a big difference
with the track temps and have now included the temp in my latest
setup. By best lap is a 1.27.52 and it was done on the 2nd lap of
my 3 lap replay at 44 deg. in a Ring race.
My friend Barry Clay has sent in several setups for the Suzuki
at Monza and A1 Ring as well, and hopefully they will get put up
tomorrow. He has gone with a much shorter bike than myself and
his times are very close to mine, so perhaps his will be more to
your liking. He did try my shocks with his other settings at the Ring
and it did seem to help his setup, although I'm not sure what he
used in his final one he posted. I ended up using his gears!
So perhaps as I mentioned mixing and matching may make a better setup.
If the setting doesn't get put up right away email me and I will send it
to you.
