Slow SCC

by Cliv » Mon, 28 Jun 2004 23:20:08

My low powered Celeron 2.6, 512MB RAM, 128mb Nvidia card runs F1C no
problem.

Downloaded SCC and boy! 20 minutes to load a track and totally unusable.

Why? Never had the problem with GTR2002

Thanks

text.cableinet.net:

SCC impacts framerates quite abit.  Just to clarify.  GTR2002 was for
F1 2k2.  SCC is for F1c.   During a normal loading of an ISI track, most
of the track loading time comes from the cars...still even with 50 cars,
(which is NOT recomended by RSDG) you should be able to load up a field
in a couple of minutes.   As the track loads, it packs in the graphics,
sounds, data etc, then loads up the selected vehicles, and this part of
the loading can take longer than the rest of the process.  You and I
don't see the individual loads, but one way to understand the loading
process is to choose a small field of only 2 or 3 cars.  Time the
loading, then repeat the process with 40 to 50 cars.
Compared to F1c and the other mods for F1c,I have had to reduce the
screen rez and drop the field size down to get acceptable framerates.
But again..20 minutes to load a track is not normal.   I would guess you
have a slower harddrive but even so...perhaps you have a scrabled
harddrive and the program is having trouble getting a clean load.  Have
you run scandisk and defragged your drive lately?   Done maintenence for
viruses and spyware?

To sum up...reduce your screen rez, reduce the field size, clean up
your system and see if that helps.  Then slow add cars back up until you
find the ***point.
