I am using a Quantex P5-166 right now.  Great computer, never had any
trouble.  Benchmark scores a little higher than average(Quake, Chris' 3d
benchmark).  Last May it took a little over 3 weeks to get, though.

Wow ! It should be a great company if they could hire the President ..

I purchased a Quantex Penium 120mhz in July, 1995.  I have owned
several computers (including name-brands and ones put together by
local companies), and I have had more problems with this computer than
all others.  Most importantly, I reported my most recent problems
which may be a bad Intel CPU prior to the expiration of my warranty,
but I am being told that my warranty will not be honored because it is
past the 12 month period.

Addiitonally, it is very difficult to contact anyone at Quantex by
telephone.  You are placed on hold for about 5-10 minutes and then
told that you cannot hold any longer and you must call back.  I have
done this for several hours on different occasions before getting
through or giving up.

I have tried e-mailing them, and most recently carried on
correspondence for about two weeks before the guy said, "Sorry, I
cannot help you; it may be a bad memory chip which we will not replace
because you are out of warranty." (it was not the simms)  This is the
same problem that I had been having for some time with new error
messages.

Now, when I try to get to tech support on WWW, it will not come up.
Therefore, I cannot get to e-mail or the tech documents.

In summary, I would certainly look at other companies carefully prior
to purchasing a Quantex.  There must be a reason that they are less
expensive than other machines.  Right now, my machine is causing me
problems that far out weigh the money that I saved.

Quantex Computer (Good Machine?)

Do not purchase a Quantex!  I purchased a P-66 system in October of '94
and had nothing but problems from the start.  I sent it back twice to get
fixed and neither time did it work when I got it.  In fact it was still
the same problem as before.... they never fixed a damn thing!  And the
second time I received it back, my sound card had been removed an no one
at Quantex knew what I was talking about and one lady even told me over
the phone that she "doubted it had happened"!!!

So after 5 months, I told them I wanted a refund.  They said they couldn't
because my 30-day money-back guarantee was up.  I threw a fit over the
phone and they agreed to give me my money back.  It took 6 weeks to
receive my check in the mail!!

By then prices had dropped and I bought a Midwest Micro P-75 system and I
have had not a single problem with it as of yet!!

All-in-all, I agree with the previous poster... there must be some reason
Quantex is cheaper, and it has something to do with quality!!
