Gents,
Does anyone have any good links to find out more about Riverside
(California) racetrack? I know it's not there any more, but I'm trying to
find out more of the history of the place.
 Cheers,

Colin

There isn't much to be found on the net on the subject of RIR. Here is one
link with very little information, all it really has is track maps:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

You might be interested in the new book by*** Wallen, "Riverside Raceway,
Palace of Speed". http://www.racesimcentral.net/
It's very pricy, but if you, like me, spent a lot of time there or just want
a comprehensive history of the circuit, it's worth the money.

Thx, Don,

I'd misplaced Wallen's addy.  He's best known for books about oval-track
racing (board tracks, midgets, stocks, Sprint & Champ cars, etc.).  The
Riverside book is a hundred bucks for 160 or so pages, but includes 900 b/w
fotos, 150 color, and lots of stats.  ($125 for the slip-cased version.)  A
must if you miss Riverside as much as I do.  I keep hoping somebody will
make the sports car version (the rest of T6--bypassing T8--and 7/7a) with as
much attention to detail as GPLEA has put into, say, Snetterton '67.  Also
hope somebody does likewise for Bridgehampton (a book and a GPL track),
arguably the only American track in the same league as Riverside.

There's also some stuff posted by Sim Racing News' Marc Nelson on his
Extinct Track Archive site:

Mostly, I miss the age I was then when I used to go watch Richard
Petty and the gang tear the place up...

Many thanks to all who replied - r.a.s. (when not hoping one of it's members
would die) comes up trumps again.

Appreciate it, lads,

Colin.

Hey! Many of the photographs on Marc's site are mine! I didn't know that
site was still up, I thought Marc had given up on it.

Thanks Steve,

don
