NASCAR 2001
by EA Sports for PlayStation

For the first time, the world center of racing appears in a NASCAR
videogame. Race against the pack in the Daytona 500!

We wait for 6 years to finally get daytona in a papyrus game and ea now
manages to get daytona for their watered down playstation game.
Hopefully this means ISC has become more willing to license the rights
to use daytona, which could be promsing for Nascar 4.

Doubt it...I am sure EA got the exclusive rights that Sega used to have.
The Daytona owners think their track is so special it's worthy of its own
game.  Too bad for all of us.

Marc.

yeah, I would think EA just plunked down the cash to scoop up
Daytona for the next 7 years...(or there abouts)  I think we'll see
Daytona in a Papy sim just about the time a new cart sim is produced by
them, or just about the time CART and the Northern Lights Search engine
league get back together.

No, that can't be the case, as Hasbro has stated that Daytona
will be featured in NASCAR Heat.

A good source has told me that DIS has been liscensed to 4
companies for video games.  We know EA and Hasbro are two of
those companies.  I would bet that Sega is the third, as they
have an arcade game and an upcoming Dreamcast title.  So, that
leaves us with the 4th company.

Papyrus won't comment either way, publicly.

It will be very interesting to see.  Either NASCAR 4 will have
DIS, or there is another NASCAR game on the horizon that no one
knows anything about.

Well if Papy doesn't get Daytona when Hasbro and EA have it, then Sierra
(their parent investment/funding partners) should be shot.

Marc.

I'm not very familiar with other NASCAR racing games other than Papyrus but how
does their Daytona's compare to the one released most recently?

I'm wondering which company does the best job at replicating tracks in general.

Thanks.

Andrew
