LFS r.a.s server - new password

Hi,

Most nights I'm running an LFS server on 1Mbit connection, from 1700 GMT
until 0800 GMT. A few people, including one or two undesirables have guessed
the obvious password, so it is now RASONLINE (upper case)

Obviously anyone who reads this NG can know the password and pass it on, but
I hope it keeps the level of racing consistently high. Last night was really
great - just clean racing, tight racing for several hours.

Btw, though the server is located in the UK, experience shows that broadband
connections from the American continent are free of lag. The only lag we've
had has been from S.A and oz.

I won't be racing myself until I get another 3-4 seconds a lap :-(

Don't be put off though as long if you are not fast, as ong as you are neat
and can control your car in close racing i.e. two a*** through corners.
Most drivers aren't super fast, but are neat. Times for the FWD cars are
generally 1:34-1:36 range, and about 1:30-1:32 for RWD.

Cheers,
Tim

I assume that's with the default setups?  If so, I need
3-4 seconds too.  More practice...

Yeh same here, seem to be around 6 seconds down (1:41), changing the setup
just seems to make me go slower. I guess I'm just not very good.

I don't think I'll bother with the online side of things anymore...

Scott......leave the set up on default.

Then change gear at 7,000 revs, taking no notice of the labouring sound as
though you have changed up too soon.

Then brake hard at 150-125 metres for corners depending on your confidence
atm,go down 2 gears to 3rd but NEVER down to 2nd(this is developing your
mindset),take all corners/bends in 3rd.

Dont try to brake late and fly round the corner tyres screeching.

So brake early, keep gears 3rd and above and plant the throttle 1/4 second
earlier than you think you can(it works, higher gear and all that)

Then do the obvious in taking care with your lines....extreme left for a
right bend and vice versa for a left bend.

Do this for 20 laps, dont touch any settings....

I bet you do a 1.38-1.39 within 20 laps....

Good luck matey

Andy

Whilst my wheel is out of commission I've had to use the mouse control,
just for the hell of it.

Is 1:37.9 any good for the fwd cars?

From a fellow mouser I would say closer to 1.36's will get ya *near* the
front.  That time used to win a few VBG..

How you guys can drive those things with a mouse at all let alone pull 136s
and 137s has got me beat.
Surely you should be awarded some sort of OBA of motor sim racing or
similar.
I am flat out pulling 135s with a good wheel :-(

Wel The mouse ain't that bad with the FWD. You get smooth steering (optical
mouse might be the key here ) and the only tricky part is the braking.
Simply don't try anything fancy in the braking zone and it should be fine.
I accelerate and brake with the keyboard, to get my fingers close to the
horn to blow the opponents away ...

BTW PB : 1.34.45 with the mouse & the fwd. and I still feel there might be
improvement...
