Slow Racecar! T2?? Help

by d. larry jenki » Thu, 02 Oct 1997 04:00:00

Hi Ya'll

I've had this problem before but, can't remember how to fix it. I
can't seem to get any speed out of my car, the fastest I can go at
Talledega is 185.

It also seems sluggish on the low end, too. Using a T2

Anyone have this???

Thanx

Larry

What gear ratio are you using in fourth gear? Rear spoiler angle? Tire
 pressure? 3.40, 40, 60 respectively.

Recalibrate your joystick, and don't quite push all the way down on the
gas while calibrating. This will prevent a little drift from preventing
you from applying 100% throttle.

Add to that...

Autobrake, and calibration.

Autobrake:  Turn this off..  Alt-B toggles it while you are driving.

Calibration:  If you calibrate the throttle to it's fullest extent any
"noise" during calibration can cause the 100% measure to be beyond that
which you can normally achieve.

This means while you feel like you have the throttle at 100%, the game
is thinking something like 95% or so.

Go back to calibration and only press the gas to about 90% of the best
value you can comfortably reach.

This will cause a "dead" zone above that position but the whole zone
will be considered 100% throttle.

Experiment until it feels comfortable.

Make sure that you didn't turn on the auto-brake or steering help.
Either of these will rob you of speed.  Also re-calibrate your pedals.
If necessary, only push the throttle down about 90%.  As a last resort,
get some "tuner" or switch cleaner and clean the pots on the pedals.

Hi Larry,

Try recalibrating your T2 but not moving the acceleration/brakes axis to
their limits - say try moving them to about 3/4 of their limit and then see
how you go.

For a full explanation of this kind of problem see
http://www.powerup.com.au/~philmak/GP2MAN/GP2MAN/fulthrot.htm

Talks about a different sim ( gp2 ) but same kind of possible cause to your
problem.

Bye
