I have honestly lost count of the different joysticks I have owned, and
none lasted longer than 6 months, especially when playing GP1 & 2, UNTIL I
bought a PC Optix. It is the **BEST** joystick I have owned. My first one
lasted over two years before one of the buttons broke, but the actual
joystick movement is as good as ever. Because of the broken button, I took
it apart and made a set of pedals out of the optical contacts, and they
have worked well for over a year.
I bought another PC Optix and that is also still going strong after at
least a year.
As for smooth movement, that's really a matter of personal preference, but
I have been very happy with the Optix, and their responsiveness and
centering has not changed since the day I bought them.
However, I must add that ICR 1 & 2 are very difficult to drive with a
joystick, no matter how good it is. I would recommend a wheel every time.
It works well with GP2 though.
BTW, I have not seen a PC Optix for sale in Britain for quite a while, and
I would like to get a spare to keep for the future (or even make another
steering wheel & pedals out of). Please can you tell me where you have seen
it?
