I bought the sidewinder Force Feedback steering wheel last week.
I really enjoy the unit immensly, my problem is the steering wheel is very
loose in the middle i can steer an inch or more with no return to center
force applied.it feels like the wheel takes an inch or so of turning to
engage any resistance and this seems to come in at a point where the wheel
clanks into some internal gear or something.
anyone have any ideas about loose wheels?

You might want to try playing with the settings in the Sidewinder Software.
I know you can adjust the "dead" zone from that software and through the
control panel you adjust the level of resistance and the force feedback
effects. Hope that helps...
