Different physics.

If it is even remotely similar to the real series', then the NBS MOD cars
should have a skosh less horsepower and a shorter wheelbase.

My personal favorite way to play NR2003 is the BGN cars on short tracks like
Mesa Marin, Nashville, and Thompson.  Dang I might have to put Never Winter
Nights aside tonight and dust off the wheel.

No more grip, but theoretically, it should rotate (corner) better around a
shorter wheel base (especially since the consensus among the online aliens I
know now is to make the cars turn off the right rear instead of the right
front). And if real world characteristics are factored in at all, shorter
wheel based cars typically ride firmer/rougher, which means you may have to
use a softer suspension setup than you normally would, but I don't know if
the sim's physics are that accurate or if the wheelbase is shorter enough to
even notice outside of real life.

They are also lighter, which does help the handling.

Yup, I forgot, they are a little bit lighter than the Cup cars too.

Not anymore. They are the same weight now, just a shorter wheelbase and
about 100 or so less horsepower. New weight rules.

See, can't even keep up with everything anymore. I had *thought* their
weight was the same now, but when someone else chimned in that they were
still lighter, I thought it was so and I had guessed wrong.

BUT, what year and specs are the NBS MOD cars in the sim based on? That's
the question.

The Grand National mod cars are 100 lbs. lighter than the Cup cars in NR
2003.
