Hi folks,

I got an offer from my local computer store on a Sapphire X800 GT (AGP)
in exchange for my Radeon 9800 Pro (AGP). The X800 costs 214 Euros, and
they'd be willing to pay me 70 Euros for my Radeon 9800 Pro, so I'd end
up with a price of around 140 Euros for the X800GT. Do you think that's
a decent offer or are those GT models too dumbed down from the original
X800 models?

Cheers & TIA for your thoughts,

uwe

PS: Look at that: Just typed five lines of justified text... without
justification, so to speak! How often does that happen? ;)

There's no GT in this list of AGP tests...

... but there may be some info there if combined with something like...

It's hard work choosing a vid card these days. So many cards, so little
difference sometimes!

It seems like a decent deal (don't know much about European prices),
and the card is definitely not "too dumbed down".  If you google X800GT
review, the reviewers seem to like it.

But you might ask them how much for an X800GTO.  That's the latest
"mid-range" card in the series, with a significant speed increase over
the GT.

In mid level video cards you often get more bang for your buck with the
very latest models.  Unless the manufacturer came out with a mediocre
design, which happens.  The reviews will let you know.
