LWWF paddle switch going south

by A. Ingra » Thu, 21 Jun 2001 17:56:38

It figures, just when I get everything running well on my new computer, my
left paddle switch on my LWFF is on it's way out. I have to squeeze real
hard to get it to do it's thing. What can I do to fix this? Is there a site
that would explain the procedure? Thanks for your help, you guys always come
through.
P.S. While I'm at it, does anyone run GPL on a LAN? I just set up my network
with two computers and was wondering if there is something I should know
about setting up the client computer for running GPL and VROC. Thanks.

Had the same problem recently: you probably cracked the "cup" part of the
switch. It started giving me terrible contact bounce, to the tune of
shifting down two gears at once in GPL and GP3.

As a fix I machined away 3/4 of the pad underneath the cup and
stuck/soldered on an "ultra-thin" surface mount tact switch (had to buy 20
of 'm, so if you need some...). So far, so good... touch wood.

According to a friend of mine there's some threads about this problem in the
logicorner group at EGroups, but I haven't checked that.

Mine is dying on the right side, also programmed to down shift ( I'm a
lefthander). It stinks when you expect second gear but still the revs do not
go up.

I have altered the switching on my own LWFF and put some pics and a
writeup on my web site on how to do it, have a look, addy in sig.

I have another batch of replacement LWFF steering pots now available too
for those of you who are suffering. Steering wheel spikes in the near
straight ahead position shows the pot is worn. Again details on my LWFF
web pages.

Cheers.

<Snip>

Use IPX. You can use TCP/IP, but the settings in the .ini file are for
modem use (you can change it if desired though); the client computer will
only see 5(?) cars in front and 2(?) cars in back.

IPX crams oodles of info through the pipe and allows the client to see a
full field.
