I was racing a 20 lapper at Silverstone, I started 4th, climbed all the way
up to 1st by lap 14 with Michael 2nd and Mika 3rd. As I was in the lead,
rain started to come pouring down. Track start to get real slippy, with
those soft compounds I was slipping and sliding, but with about 4 or 5 to
go, I wasn't going to pit and give up the position. Therefore I keep
driving, was able to build a 4sec lead on Michael. With 2 to go, entering
the first left turn of the becketts, i got through fine, but as I enter the
right hander right after that. My backend started to slide, i tried my best
to correct it, but I end up plowing into the sand trap (Can you say, OH NO
MIKA IS OFF). I stayed on the gas, got back out in 3rd place about 7 sec
behind Michael. I drove as hard as I could the next lap in those slicks,
well grooves tires to try to catch up to MS who took the lead after i plow
through the sand trap like Mika. Running in amature level, I was able to
catch up to 2nd place Mika on the front straight and pass him with just 1 to
go. After I passed him, my goal was to get pass that red Ferrari, but being
2 sec behind. It doesn't seem to be possible. But at that point I wasn't
going to give up, I gave it everything I got. Going under the last bridge, I
was right on his tail, but racing with the slicks on a soaked track, it was
impossible for me to get traction. Anyway heading for the last turn, i was
still behind him, I dove to the inside hoping that my car will stick, but
with the slicks. My car couldn't stick to the corner, I slid all the way out
to the grass, end up not just losing 2nd place, I lost 3rd to Mika too. As I
limp back to the sf line, although I didn't win the race, but it made me
feel like a real F1 racer since I was driving on the limit in every corner
trying to win the race.
Anyway my point of typing this story is telling you guys that no modern F1
sim can stimulate weather or the race like MGP2, not GP2, not andretti
racing. MGP2 is the top at its class right now, so don't make fun of it...
