Gee and ABC thought it was tough finding stories to fill a rained out Pole
day.  I wonder how they're going to manufacture drama this weekend?

dont worry i'm sure slick TONY G will have another brain storm on how
to make it a better race... an American race series (oh wait they
raced in Japan last time didnt they)-

maybe Bobby Rahal will come out of retirement next?

I live just north of Indy and the local media is all aflutter about
how this driver or that is going to come out of the woodwork and make
it complete field, but the way I see it, it's 29 for sure 30 or 31
maybe but I just don't see the people or the cars needed to get 33.

I agree, sort of.  Personally  I don't care if there are 29 or 33 cars in a
race.  I'd rather see 20 great racers total  than 10 great and 23 field
fillers.  However, there is a  perception out there, among mostly the
nonracing press that not to have a full field (and grandstand) is evidence
of weakness. (See NASCAR how they do anything to make sure they have a 43rd
car, even if it's really an ARCA car that drops out after 4 laps a la
LasVegas.)

Also, I get back to my original point which I was only half kidding.  ABC
has made a big deal of bump day the last few years.  All that human interest
story crap.  I mean seriously Billy Boat has got more air time the past few
years than JaLo.  So I think it is a bit of a big deal to them.  I never
really cared that much, usually it's just been about which of the field
fillers get the last couple of spots.  Has anyone in recent years made it in
on bump day ( I mean actually been on the bubble, not like Michael last
year) and then done anything in the race?
