Maybe if you hit the 'ALT' key and at the same time the 'O' key, like it
says on the Keyboard commands sheet Papyrus included with the game,
maybe that would help.

Just to take one measly straw off the camel's back, the F1 key won't
display anything unless you have crossed the s/f line and then hit it.

Yes they should, and no they don't always. It's a bug, simple as that.

However, it's a fairly minor one, with an easy workaround. That's not
to say that it won't get fixed, but in the grand prioritized scheme of
things, this one's pretty small.

which we guys in the UK didn't get. *** this. Why do we get a 96
page (compared to 216 pages in the US?) and no command sheet either?

An object lesson in yanking Stuart's extremely short chain! I just
don't understand the point of writing 2 separate manuals when one is
clearly better than the half assed attempt published here in the UK.
What about other country's?

I really don't like the moaning and whinging that goes on here in RAS,
but when Sierra (and it was *** Interactive Entertainment who
botched the Nascar 1 manual up previously) do something like this I
confess that I do get annoyed!

Sorry to rant, but this has happened before and that's what winds me
up.

I can raise you to two straws. The spotter NEVER gives lap times on lap 1
(First lap out of pits anyway). I found either O or Alt-O toggles this, so by
"double checking" to see if he says 10-4, now you've toggled off.

For starters, you are basically turning the "Spotter radios lap times"
option on and off with each press of the 'O' key.  Second, he does not
give you a lap time when you cross the start/finish line for the first
time after leaving the pits.  When you enter the track, just press 'O'
ONCE ONLY, then start making laps.  You should hear the spotter say
'10-4' to confirm.  After you cross the finish line for the first time
he will begin calling out your lap times with the next lap.
