About using the soundbalster joystick port versus Thrustmaster's joystick
thingamaboby in Nascar 2.

Now I have both and yes they both have different numbers in the calibration
screen.

SB - 100 to 1500  example.

TM - 30 to 200 is adjustable some.

Now people have said you get better performance with the TM unit and it's more
accurate since the number of segments is more in line with the actual pot's.
But with this seemingly logical theory I don't see any benifit on the screen.
Both seem just as east to control as the other.

My theory is Papy nows all about this and they have a little program inside N2
that reads the readouts and adjusts Nascar 2 accordingly. So SB works just
great with N2 and 90% of their customers have a soundcard joystick port so it
was imperative to do so. All one would have to do to bring SB inline would be
to divide the readout by 4 to have the same level of readout as the TM unit.
Thus making both nearly equal. the only benifit is that you can adjust the TM
a bit to have it more or less sensitive but agian it's so small that most can
live without it.

Is there really a peroformance benifit with the TM over a soundcards joystick
port in Nascar 2? Is it very miniscule if so? Either way I rather save the $$$
and especially the isa slot as those are becoming rare real quick.

It depends on each individual setup. My computer would not even boot
up with my T2 plugged into my Ensoniq Soundscape. I needed a TM-ACM
game card. The card handles the voltage properly and also reduces heat
induced drift. The drift is noticable after the machine is on for a while
and
your calibrations are off. Some people need the game card, some do not.
In my case I only needed it when I wanted to use my T2.

I had to get the ACM cause I couldn't get the joysticks to work properly in
Win95 games with the SB16. MTM wouldn't work at all with the wheel! Popped
in the ACM and I have had no troubles what so ever! No more drift after the
machines been on all day and 110 laps complete at Dega either!
