Jerking Joys or why does everything move around on it's own.

Ok here is the question, Why does my Wheel, Joystick, Game Pad, etc
jerk around after calibration? I was using the port on my good old SB
16 as the joystick port and really wasn't having any problems at all.
Then one day I got the new SB PCI32 and I started having the jerking
problems after a calibration. Well I assumed that it was because I
moved the joystick port to the PCI bus. I ran out and got a TM ACM
game card to put it back on the ISA (slower) bus in the hopes that the
jerking would go away, but it didn't. Here is the rest of the details
of my computer:
P6 200MMX
ASUS T2P4C MB
48 meg RAM
ATI all in wonder
Creative Blaster VooDoo 2 8meg
above SC and game card

If anyone could give me any ideas (I've ran out) I would forever be in
your debt. It ain't easy driving at 300 MPH and all of a sudden the
wheel jerks to the left/right (yes the sensitivity is all the way
down)

I also have the ATI all in wonder (great card) and had
trouble with jerking & drifting .

My ATI & sound card were separated only by an empty
slot. Two things about the ATI that I figured were messing
up ,extra heat(from TV tuner) & oscillations (from same).
Cured (mostly cured) by moving away another bay & I left
the bay cover off between the two cards for more air flow.

It could just be my case has inferior cooling ,on real hot days
I leave the side cover loose ,it seems to help more.

You can probably tell I'm no expert but I do know heat
will effect your callibration.

Hope this helps.

As stated above it still jerks but only in one sim, NHRA. I have
tested NASCAR2, ICR2, BURNOUT, and F1RS and they all control normally.
If anyone else has this problem I think we need to send Tantrum a list
of 'issues' (corp for problem) we need fixed. I really like NHRA and
think it CAN be a great GAME if things were fixed real soon.

The three most likely reasons for "bounce" (jerkiness) in game controllers
are:
1) The potienometers (pots) are dirty - clean them with a proprietary
contact cleaning spray (not WD40).
2) The pots have gone. They will not last for ever and you will have to
replace them periodically.
3) Most pots have a little bounce in them even when new. Apparently the
best are made of conductive plastic (??) and have almost none. You can buy
these from a company called Spectrol who also have a web site.
