Neither Mind Magic or Tantrum will respond to my polite requests for
information on a tentative release date.
Gee, I wonder if there is going to be an NHRA patch?! Would a developer
actually release a product with glaring defects and then not fix them?!!
Tell me it is not possible??!! :-|
Next time I am considering a Mind Magic/Tantrum product, I will take $33
bucks from my wallet and just burn it. I am sure that would be more
satisfying than playing NHRA with its long load times, lack of pedal
support, and the out of control through the lights steering.
I am about the last guy who thinks Government regulation is desirable as
compared to REAL competition. However, the software sales/support/upgrade
treadmill with a handful of distributors/developers is getting out of
hand.
Time was you could return a piece of dung software. Time was software was
not a beta out of the box. Time was software had manuals with actual
pages of accurate documentation. Now days, it is -- you open it, you
bought it.
Ever asked a CompUSA Salesperson to load a piece of software on one of
their machines so you can "test drive" it before you buy it? They just
laugh at you! I am hard pressed to think of any other product in this
price range ($25+ bucks) that you are expected to buy blind with no
options for refund or store credit.
Ever actually read the Software Disclaimer? The software developers
actually have the nerve to deny responsibility for the software's ability
to do what they advertise it to do! It is insane. No, it is rapidly
approaching criminal!
The day is coming when the software industry will have the Government
snooping in their knickers. And when they whine about it, I shall laugh
because they will have brought it upon themselves with their idiotic
business practices.
There -- I am out $33 bucks, but I feel better.
