I have been away from RAS for a while..

But i can't find an F1 Sim passed F12002, I have read the EA storys.. Papy
are no more, I have Nascar 2003, is there is 2004? And of course GPL......
Where did my life go when GPL came out...

So is there anything out or on the horrizon? I tried the Race Driver 2
demo and hated it.... Sim racing looks to be in a sorry state at the
moment.... Maybe I should dig out ICR2? Or GP2.. As GP4 was also bad..

managed to mumble the following:

F1 Challenge '99-'02 is the latest F1 sim. I guess it's about a
year or so old. Pretty good. Better than F1 2002. Includes four
complete seasons from 1999 to 2002 and a 2003 season is available
online. 2004 should be out "soon". I think EA lost the rights to
the F1 license so there'll be no more EA Sports F1 sims.

NASCAR Racing 2003 is the lastest and last Papy sim. Sierra lost
the NASCAR license to EA and it seems some of the Papy staff have
defected to EA for development of their next NASCAR game/sim.
Plenty of life left in NR2K3, though. CTS, Busch, Trans-Am, The
Pits Touring Cars, Winston Cup 1988 mods are all available and
more are on the way.

GTR is the next big thing in sim racing. Download the Press Demo
and see for yourself. Includes Spa and two cars: the Lister Storm
and the Morgan Aero8, in an unlimited test session. No AI or
multiplayer though.

"it seems some of the Papy staff have
defected to EA for development of their next NASCAR game/sim."

Pure speculation, but if it's true lets hope they make it better.

"GTR is the next big thing in sim racing. No AI or
multiplayer though."

Will the finished product have multiplayer. If not, not much good.

The design specs for GTR called for 30 cars on a dedicated server.  I
don't know how Nascar Thunder 2004 performed online, but it was supposed
to have dedicated server support so I would assume that GTR's online
capability is some derivative of that.
I wonder what the reaction of F1 and Nascar fans will be when they
first bring a GTR car in for a pitstop?  The average stop for fuel and
tires is approximentally 30 to 45 seconds with even more time taken for
driver changes.  Can you imagine the number of messages we'll see about
how  Joe-Bob Briggs bought GTR and it's got a bug.  He drove into the
pits and they crew just stood there till all the fuel was in.  :)

I thought Racing Legends was the next big thing.  Isn't the demo due to
be released in 2 weeks? ;)

Before collapsing in a drunken stupor Dave Henrie

I'd hope that most of the people buying GTR actually know what GT
racing is how and how it differs from NASCAR and other American
series.

[snip]

I've read in an interview w/SBDT that they've actually completely
redone the multiplayer code, including reasonable support for 56k'ers.
Could be very good news if it pans out.  I'll see if I can find the
URL.
