Indycar II "Flashing Curbs" Problem

by Jo » Sat, 10 Feb 1996 04:00:00

When I play ICR2 in***pit mode the white lines that mark the
curb-sides often flash on and off (quickly, like a strobe), especially
when the visible horizon is low and flat. I find this quite
distracting.

This does not happen in "arcade mode". I don't mind learning a track
in arcade mode, but you gotta get into the car to get a real feel of
driving. Has anybody else noticed this? Is there a solution available?

Maybe your graphics options are causing the problem- if I have the min
and the max framerate thresholds set too close together, some things
(like tire marks and some of the track lines) pop in and out. You
change these things in the opening menu under options, then graphics.

But if it turns out you are just referring to the way the track is
drawn, I think I know the strobing affect you talk of, and I don't
think there is anything you can do. It would be nice if the curbs were
raised.

Could be - I think I do have them close together (this seems like the
only way I can get the road texture to stay on, which I like because
it increases the sensation of speed). I'll try fiddling with them a
bit.

try turning the road texture to on. other features may flash on and off.
i usually turn the horizon off (i never look out there), and turn the
textures off (on a P75). leave the objects on as you need the brake
markers but you can turn the object textures off. i find getting the
frame rate up to thirty helps with lap times and control.
