through Eau Rouge!!! Third day with the demo, this thing ROCKS! I'm using an
F16 Combatstick to steer and the keyboard for gas/brakes, I think I'm gonna
need that wheel before it's released in the US. I can't shift it yet... it
takes too much concentration just to keep it on line. With full driver aids
the best I can get is a 2:19 and change. I am outbraking the AI bigtime
though, that's the only thing that keeps them behind me. This is the best
time I've had with a race sim in a long time.

something like:

I don't mean to put you down, but you're not really experiencing that
much sim racing with the semi-pro mode, full driver aids and digital
gas/brake... Buy that wheel, order the game from Germany (or eBay), go
to the simulation mode, disable those driver aids, and then you have a
race sim :)

Well I guess I should of said "released in English". I don't know if I'll
get bored with Spa & the Lister before then, but it could happen. If I do, I
guess I'll have to deal with eBay and the English translation hack. Anyway,
I can put up with the demo for now. I don't think I'll have much success
turning off the aids though, not until I can get a descent wheel. I looked
at a Logitech Driving Force Pro at Fry's today, 140USD... ouch that a little
steep, I saw it online for 110USD. Unfortunately there wasn't a display
model to look at. I'm going by BestBuy later this evening to see if they
have one out of the box. The pic on the box showed what looked like there
old style (read POS) desk clamp mechanism. I thought they'd gotten away from
that. My past experience with it wasn't very good. It tended to "roll" off
desks with radius edges. I hope this one is better b/c I'm using the same
desk :^)

something like:

Yeah, I have a desk like that too... but luckily my Momo Force came
with an option to secure it to the desk with a bolt that goes through
the desk. There was even a nice template in the box to mark the spot
where you drill the hole. Needless to say I hardly ever take the wheel
off the desk anymore <g>

Drill a hole through the desk? Hope it's a cheap desk. ;)
