Internet *** Veteran Bob McCarthy Launches New Venture Dedicated To
Creating Authentic Motorsport Entertainment For Racing Enthusiasts

Las Colinas, TX (January 25, 1999) -- Bob McCarthy, a nine-year veteran of
Internet networking and online ***, today announced the launch of
Motorsport Simulations, Inc. a new company dedicated to creating
state-of-the-art racing simulations. Motorsport Simulations plans to release
a number of titles in 1999. All products will be published by Motorsport
Simulations as single-player standalone games at retail, and online racing
arenas via Motorsport Simulations internet racing community. The online
product, which will use proprietary client server technology to run multiple
racing arenas, will launch this Spring. The standalone racing product is due
to hit retail shelves this summer.

"My goal at Motorsport Simulations is to bring the motorsport enthusiast the
thrills, e***ment and challenges of an authentic racing experience via
their PC," comments Motorsport Simulations chairman and founder Bob
McCarthy. "Weve built a team that combines a love of motorsports with a
true understanding of what makes a great simulation. Theres a massive
audience for motorsports, and we want to bring their favorite motorsport
events home to their computer, and ultimately get them racing online."

Company founder Bob McCarthy was the chairman of Interactive Creations, the
publisher of the popular online aviation simulation Warbirds, and prior to
that, McCarthy was a founder of Concentric Networks. He brings to Motorsport
Simulations a wealth of experience and understanding of simulations and the
online *** market. He is joined at Motorsport Simulations by a team of
motorsport enthusiasts and specialists in their fields including a number
of former Warbirds veterans, such as Stephen Wilkinson as VP of Development,
and Matt Jessick, a former aerospaceengineer who heads the companys physics
group.
"Given our company name, there should be no doubt as to our focus," notes
McCarthy. "We intend to be the leading source of motorsport entertainment
for computer gamers and racing fans. We understand what the hard-core
simulation fan is looking for, and we intend to give it to them. We also
intend to make our products accessible to the casual player via options such
as training modes."

Motorsport Simulations are involved in a number of partnerships with leading
personalities and governing bodies in the world of racing. Several
announcements are pending in this area, and will be announced in the
upcoming months.

I don't know about this, but the guys at MSI teased us here with some info on
[paraphrased] "great things to come."  I've been waiting to see what they would
do, and never would have guessed a bike sim.  Yes, it does look promising in an
early stage sort of way.

Cheers!

Yes, quite some time ago we made a few posts, but we decided to wait until
the
game was a bit farther along before we began posting :) Several of us read
this (and other) newsgroups and appreciate your interest. As time permits,
we would be happy to answer any questions we can!

Hi Stephen,

I just hope you're not going to leave when/if the heat starts building
up like some other reps did...  (Anyone knows where's "Dean f'tang
f'tang ole biscuit barrel CART Team" been for the last year or so?)

If you've followed this NG for a little while you already know some
people just can't be constructive in their comments.  On the other
hand, there are also developers who will only see the posts praising
their product.

If you really want our help/suggestions/comments, then on behalf of
the whole NG I welcome you in and hope we can help you achieve your
goals.

But remember that even a good fireproof suit hasn't proved to be
enough for many others!  We're expecting no less than perfection from
your titles, so if you should fall short, we'll always be here to
complain!

;o)

Sounds very promising. We'll be able to race against Miguel Duhamel in
AMA racing I suppose? There's something I don't understand... is the
game sold only over the net? Also, will there be a difference between
the online game and the solo game? Internet racing is a great concept
and it's fun to see a company take advantage of that interest. Now, it
would be interesting to speculate on the next titles... perhaps a World
of Outlaw game?

Hello Philster,

We will have two versions of the game. The online version will have
a lot of the features of the box game and will be available for download
from our web site. The box game will have more features and a plot as well
as stuff that you wouldn't want to download like bigger sounds & gfx.
The box game will also run online of course :)

Hehe - let's wait until we ship the first one, ok ;)

Hello Antoine,

[...snip]

Well, most of us have been around usenet for quite some time so we're
used to it from our previous companies :) But as I said, we're shooting
to be in for the long run.

Sure, help/suggestions/comments are good for both of us, so post away!
I know our physics, background research guys both read this group
as does our producer/designer. It's probably to early to start asking/
answering overly specific questions, but we'll do what we can!

Hehe...
