GP2 spoon curve setup?

GP2 spoon curve setup?

I've been having lots of fun tweaking my setup for Suzuka but have hit a
snag.

I'm finding that I either have understeer or wild oversteer at spoon curve
which is causing stones to fall from my car and get under my tyres :)

What should I adjust for this type of corner? I've tried increasing rear
anti-roll bar and/or decreasing front wing a bit.

Suggestions would be most welcome.

In the case of oversteer in slow corners, I make the anti roll bar at
the back very soft and front much harder.
Try it...

A slightly less square chin will vastly improve aerodynamic efficiency,
and cure your handling problems :)

Spoon is a problem because you go from a gentle right hander into quite
a sharp _fast_ left hander. The resulting shift in weight can really
unsettle the car, especially at the rear.

Set the wings first of all in order to allow good speed through the S-
curves, to be flat out through the Dunlop curve, and to carry speed
through Degner and 120R (?). Springs need to be adjusted for
manouevrability through the S-curves, and also ***, with good
traction at the rear (three or four times accelerating hard from first
or second).

You need to increase rear-end grip, especially during weight transfer,
but without shifting back to understeer (although slight understeer is
an advantage at Suzuka depending upon your driving style). Keep the rear
as low as possible (ride height), but watch for riding on bumb dampers
through 120R which isn't fun!

For the snap-oversteer, try slightly softening the rear rebound dampers
(slow rebound). You can also stiffen the front, but this gives less
precise handling which is not good. If you still see the effect, reduce
the fast rebound slightly at the rear. This should help, but you'll
still have to watch for *** wheel movements at that point, try to be
as smooth as possible when switching direction.

This helped me, but my style may be different to yours. Best lap is a
1:37.849 with no driving aids (TSW wheel/pedals).

Cheers!
John

After some very helpful messages (thanks guys), I found the problem was
the front was much too stiff. So what was happening was that by trying to
reduce understeer by using the rear anti-roll bar I was leaving the car
without enough traction.

After softening the front springs / anti-roll bar I now find I can get on
the power earlier coming out of the hairpin without feathering the
throttle, power on earlier+higher rpm out of spoon into the back straight.

Best times are 1m36.8xx so its been a worthwhile exercise.

I'm now looking forward to setting up Jerez.

Once again thank you to those that offered suggestions.
