Alain,
I've got some bad news--there is no one _best_ setup. First off, there is a
big difference in what equipment people are using (joystick, wheel, keyboard)
not to mention the difference in computers...
But beyond that, it all comes down to the fact that every person is
different, and we all like different things in a setup (For example, I run
faster with a setup that's a little loose going in, tight in the middle of the
corner, and a tiny bit loose coming off), but you might like something
different. You might find my setup totally undriveable. Or you might love
it. Or something in between.
About the only thing that I can suggest is hitting several of the web sites
that have setup, grab all the ones for Atlanta, then try them out until you
find one that's pretty close to what you want, and tweak it. There's really no
way to "shortcut" it. To paraphrase a well-known racing saying--"Speed takes
time. How fast do you want to go?" (And once you get close, it takes longer
and longer to get smaller increases in speed--I just spent 3 days wringing 1/2
mph out of my Michigan setup for ICR II).
If you'd like, I'll e-mail you a list of URL's that have car setups, and I
guide that I got (from The Pits, I think) that really helps with knowing what
things to change to fix particular problems (loose going into a corner has a
different fix than loose coming out)
hope this helps,
take care,
Scott
It's a thingie! A fiendish thingie!
