How long will we have to wait until someone develops a sim that is better
that GPL or N4.

I tried, really tried to drive Malasia for the weekend, and also watched
onboard qualifying on TV. The track is modelled great, it looks awesome, but
the vehiclew dynamics seem all wrong. AI brakes for corners 25 to 35 meters
before the corners. Mika drove (99 season) 1.33 in the friggin RACE. What is
that.

I am so sorry this title did not turn out better. I would play F1CS2000 but
the tracks are so TERRIBLY wrong I just can't get into it. GP3 really
belongs to the last millenium. Now this game comes out, and it turns out to
be such crap. I WANT TO STOP PLAYING BLODDY GPL. I really do. But the way
this one drives just does not cut it.

The controls in my oppinion are the main problem. You just can't navigate
fast sweeping corners. If you want to add a touch or revs (CH Pedals, very
precise) the car just snaps into a *** oversteer, and there is nothing
you can do than. But you CANNOT anticipate it. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT KNOW WHEN
YOU ARE ON THE LIMIT. Either you are too slow, or you spin out. It has to do
with contoroler reading. It has to do with sound. But for now it is almost
unusable. The game is so beautiful it lures you to play it, but than it
frustrates you beyond all recognition. When I drive close to the AI, my
FFeedback goes out of whack, like someone else took over my wheel. WEIRD!

I wish Ubisoft makes the best F1 game. I wish they succedd. Therefore I wish
more of us give them arguments of why the physics and controls, and sound
and AI (obvious) need some serious tweaking. You can still have fun with it,
but that leaves you even more desperate, because the game is so close and
yet so far away in terms of playability.

Can't cry any more. I need to go back and marvel at the beautiful driving
feedback I get from Papy products, and pray that WSC gets released this
year, at least the demo.

Enough babble anyway,

Domi

What do you base that on? Graphics alone or the fact you can't hear
other cars? Or do you mean the fact it models the '98 season (it can
be updated to 2000)? It may be no GPL, but the physics engine is way
above F1RC.

*IMO* the physics engine in F1RC has its faults but it seems to me to have a
basis of physics behind it unlike GP3, to me F1RC feels like an F1 car
should feel very pointy and when it lets go you don't get much warning. And
whether it is realistic or not I just like the feel of F1RC I never realy
liked the feel of GP3, but each to his own.

Yes, each to his own. I think F12KCS feels the best of any F1 sim so
far. But, F1RC feels to me like it is hovering above the road with no
feeing for the road at all. IMO.

I wish they would fix the wheel probem as well. Everytime I catch up to an
AI car my wheel goes bonkers and I crash.

I think everything else is really good.

This, that and 1001 other things ;)

That in no way makes his sentence false.  Gp3 is truly a racing sim of the
last century.  It was already outdated of a decade when released.

Have to agree but for different reasons, something just doesn't feel
quite right. I have turned all helps off but it still feels to me as
though I am not in sole control of the car. At times it seems that I
can just turn the wheel and I will make the corner without a problem
even if I am going in too fast.

The reaction to collisions also seems fairly well off the mark, I was
in a race at Malaysia when my wheels got entangled with a car beside
me along the front straight. My car went up in the air, spun 360 and
then carried merrily on it's way with my foot buried on the
accelerator the whole time and I didn't suffer any damage at all. On
another occasion I lost the front wing but noticed no difference to
the cars handling thereafter.

I am going to keep trying and tweaking things in the hope that I will
find some improvement but at the moment I have to say that the realism
is slightly lacking in this sim \ game.

Cheers

PH

PS:- Anyone who is happy with the handling \ performance care to let
me know what settings they are using in the game. Cheers.

There allready is a 'AI patch' out, it helps a little, but not enough.

The AI if faster than me in the corners, slower on the straights, and
they are sticking too much to their line. Yesterday I spinned at
Suzuka, Hakinnen was driving 5 seconds behind me, he had all the room
to avoid me but he choose to immitate Surtees and rammed my car :(

Why do you want to stop playing ***y GPL? Even if a 'perfect'
current F1 sim appears, it won't be half as much fun as driving a
Lotus 49 on the Nordschleife imho.. :)

I thought it was me, but I'm happy to see that you have the same
problems. Indeed, you allmost can't feel when the car is on the limit.
After driving numerous laps on Suzuka I know how fast I can go at each
corner, but when pushing it for those last 1/10s of seconds it becomes
frustrating since you can't feel when the car is on the limit.
In GPL you -feel- what the car is doing, when it's about to loose
control, in F1RC you -can't-.
And the FF is also a weird problem indeed. I had the same, when
driving behind an AI car the FF goes weird. FF is totally unusable in
F1RC. And a racing sim NEEDS good FF.

I had good fun with F1RC for a week or two, admiring the specaculair
graphics, but I'm done with hotlapping now and I want to RACE, which
can't be done in F1RC. AI is totally unplayable and multiplayer only
works with a max of 4 players. This one goes back to the shelves
untill a patch comes out.

No, my friend (well you play GPL, and therefore must be a friend:) I don't
think I will quit playing GPL any time soon. And I am not sad. What I said
was just a figure of speach.

The Ring is so great, and fro that track alone, I will continue playing it.
I wish we could make a pettition for the West Bro's to include modern
Nordschleife into their product.

Anyway, I am so in love with GPL/Ring that I am talking my wife to take a
1000 Km trip to visit the track, inspite of the poor standard of living in
my home Croatia. I WILL GO THERE!!!!!! This year probably!

Well, you sure know how to satisfy your wife.. :)
Have fun, don't forget to check the opening times of the track before
you go, it not open for public everyday, as I found out the hard when
when I went to the Ring last year :(
