HELP - F1GP ed2.0 for Win doesn't work

by Sami Kopon » Thu, 13 Apr 1995 04:00:00

         Hi !

Could someone please help me to get the GP-editor 2.0 for
Windows to work properly. I have been trying to update to
the -95 drivers and cars for several days with no luck.
The editor always seems to do the updating correctly
but when I run gp.exe the machine just says that "packed
file is corrupt".

I have tried this with European versions 1.03 and 1.05,
with Windows 3.1 and 3.11 and with several different software
cofigurations. Always with the same result. I even tried
to "unexepack" the gp.exe file first but then the updating
is not done correctly.

If you have any suggestions, please tell me !

    Thanks,

David Paul Gym

I had the same problem with 1.05 and had to reinstall the original game
gp.exe, after which the problem never reoccured. I think this was
because I'd previously used F1Ed on it; using unexepak will also make
the problem much worse (but you say you didn't do that :-).

Let's hope version 2 has a decent editor built in. *sigh*

I used to have gped 2.0 and never had any problems.  Then I accidently
deleted it and found wcfged5.0 or whatever that had v1.0.  I also
found f1ed which is a dos version.  I used those and couldn't get them
to work properly, so I finally found where I ftp'd gped2.0 from, and
reinstalled it.  I kept getting the same thing as you, so I moved all
my helmet, car, setup files, etc to a totally different directory and
reinstalled world circuit.  I then moved my files back, edited the
gp.exe as I wished, and am having lots of fun!

I suspect the problem was with things that the other editors were
doing to it, and not with gpeditor at all, since I couldn't get the
other ones to recognize my gp.exe either.
