The internet play for this game *sucks*.  The EA site says that
nfs3 does not support internet play.  My question is this:  why doesnt
the manual and/or box and/or main NFS web page say this????  How can a
game released in this day and age not support internet play???  If
monster truck madness 2 plays good with 5 ppl over the net, surely the
geniuses who coded NFS3 could make it play decent with only 2 ppl in a
game.  Don't waste your money on this game folx.  Maybe EA will get a
clue and patch the game for better internet play.  Here is a hint
EA:  make it *asynchronous* as opposed to the laggy synchronous
protocol.  Hopefully if enough people will complain, they will fix
this.  IMHO, they have ruined what could have been the best game of
the year!

If you are waiting for EA to release a patch, you'll be waiting a while.
They never do shit like that.  What's there is it

That used to be the case for sure, but they just stunned me by releasing a
patch for NCAA 99, turning it from unplayable to a great game. They
addressed just about every complaint there was and fixed most all of them.

Quit your whining, you miserable bastard.
Believe it or not, a game doesn't need internet playability to be
good.

Why should the packaging state that the game cannot be used over the
Internet?

If EA produce a patch for NFS3 then they should be commended. But if
idiots like you dismiss the game just because it doesn't have (and is
not advertised as having) features that *you* want, then why should
they?

  Better yet, make it   isosynchronous

Thats pretty bad...cuz NFS3 does have its fair share of annoying bugz
and phantom crashes.

What is "isosynchronous"..and what game(s) use it?  I know that the
internet friendly descent series of games use the asynchronous protocol
in handling of packets.

Well, we don't really care for the Internet so much here. We play MOST of
our games on LAN, or MOSTLY through modem-to-modem. As long as that works
flawlessly in NFS3 I am buying it.

We've played direct connect on the internet quite a few times, and the only
problem we have is some lag during peak times.
You do understand how to connect an tcp/ip game without using kali or a
'*** lobby' I assume.
We've had four people connected.

So I guess people shouldn't buy Quake 2 because the single player sucks,
huh?

Yeah, and besides... Unlike that first geek, a lot of people who own the
game actually have friends to come over and have a rocking good time.

Well unlike you ***, I dont waste my $$ on multiple PCs...I have
more important other stuff to spend it on.  And I am not hauling my
PC over to anyone's house just for *** (and I wouldnt expect others
to do so either)...IMHO only "geeks" have the time for that ;-)
Besides, in this day and age of *** over the net, that (your idiotic
suggestion) should not be expected of gamers. IMHO, when coding the
game, they should have taken simple steps (ie make the game send/receive
packets asynchronously) to make the game net friendly.  So again,
***, its all about convience and making use of todays tech.

Yeah, we tried TCP/IP...and the performance was no better than IPX.
About the only times the game was playable was when I had a 150ms ping
to a player...and 150ms is normally only achievable when 1 of the
parties have a fast conneX to the net ;-)
