Can someone please upload the demo in a nice, neat WinZip package?

So far most of the reviews of the demo have been extremely positive, but yet
barely a peep out of r.a.s. No one here seems to be able ot get their hands
on it yet.

I chatted briefly with a European who thought it ran well, looked good,
but came up short on the physics end...(this was a F1CS2k driver, not a
GPLer)
can't say more than that right now.

I think one of the problems with the judgement of the physics is that we
won't be able to play it in the most difficult mode. As Jan said, the ABS
and traction control can't be shut off in the demo. Maybe someone will find
a way to hack it.

If the manufacturer released the demo in that manner, I wouldn't hold my
breath that they have anything impressive to showcase.

Marc.

This excuse is perfect for a semi-serious simulator.  Knowing it won't be
able to catch the *** simracer's attention, such things are thrown in
the situation to please the small group that we are (= F12000, NH, etc...)
and possibily catch us into buying it.

David, Ubisoft never planned F1RC to be the end-of-all sims.  It wasn't
really taken as an *** modern F1 sim.  Most of the crew who worked on
it have no racing experience whatsoever.  And now with the whole split-axis
problem, it's just obvious they are trying to do the above paragraph.  Of
course you'll deny this as a *** theory (or anything that related to
GPL <g>).

Demos are smartly geared to the general public, which is nothing like most
of us here. It has to be accessible to the average guy/girl or they will
never buy it.

Well, you're pointing out the biggest difference between you (and some
others here) and me. I don't find any sim made yet to be all that "serious".
They are all still just games to me (no matter how detailed the physics
model) until there is substantial physical feedback and real penalties for
mistakes, neither of which is likely to happen on a home PC soon.

For instance, I tried the NF demo (even though I have zero interest in
NASCAR) and it was a bore. Very easy yet I'm sure you'd call it hard core.
The physics in F1RC seem more realistic and the challenge is definitely
greater than in N4, F1CS2000, or GP3.

Reality check. Lots of games are SOLD in that state (F1 2#$*$&#$)... ;)

That's different! I'd rather have some options to reduce realism (as in N3) and
commercial success then have one version of the game and no successor (as in GPL).

One point for you! ;) Simply using GPS doesn't produce great sims...
But I only tried to make clear that they would never spent that money JUST
for an arcade racer. That audience doesn't give a damn about realistic tracks...
well, some sim racers around here do not, as well. ;)
